QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates must possess significant ice hockey coaching and playing experience. Goaltending experience is a plus. 
• All instructors are expected to serve as teachers and role models both on and off the ice, and must, therefore, exhibit maturity and professionalism.
• Applicants must be reliable and possess both a general willingness to assume any and all jobs and an ability to work in a high profile environment.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills are critical.
• Hiring is conditional on the successful completion of a criminal background check; applicants should also either possess or be able to attain required background clearances and USA Hockey coaching certification.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  

The essential responsibilities of this position are performed indoors, mainly at ice hockey rinks but including occasional visits to the office and special event sites (indoor/outdoor in the weather conditions prevalent at the time). The noise level in the work environments can range from moderate to loud during events/programs, and is minimal during non-event/program times. 

SCHEDULE:  

Most work is completed after school/evening hours. There may also be opportunities to work standard work hours and/or weekend duties in the Greater Philadelphia area. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Create and deliver Snider’s career development programming for high school and postsecondary students by designing engaging experiences that encourage students to explore a wide range of career pathways and fields through opportunities such as job-site visits, professional presentations, career panels, and other career-connected experiences.
• Incorporate opportunities for students to identify their personal values, interests, strengths, and sense of purpose, helping them make informed decisions as they explore education and career possibilities.
• Develop and strengthen partnerships with employers and community organizations to create meaningful opportunities for Snider students and alumni, including special events, networking, internships, job shadowing, and other career-connected experiences.
• Lead and oversee the Student Leadership Council by managing the annual participant selection process, planning and facilitating meetings, promoting meaningful service opportunities, and creating opportunities for students to provide feedback that informs Snider’s programs and initiatives.
• Support students and alumni in building the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workplace by facilitating career-oriented workshops and networking opportunities. This includes coordinating opportunities for 12th grade and postsecondary students to build and receive feedback on their resumes, along with providing opportunities for students and alumni to practice their interview skills.
• Promote and coordinate the selection processes for two employment opportunities: J.Wood Platt Caddie Program and the Snider Alumni Coach Program.
• Promote a wide range of career and education pathways by connecting students and alumni with trade schools, certificate programs, apprenticeships, workforce development programs, and other non-traditional education and training opportunities that can lead to meaningful employment.
• Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with students, alumni, parents and guardians, potential partners, and other key stakeholders to support student success and strengthen Snider’s career development efforts.
• Supervise and support part-time Career Advisors, while coordinating key administrative functions related to payroll, finance, risk management, and human resources to ensure effective and efficient program operations.
• Travel within the Greater Philadelphia/South Jersey area is required. Flexible work schedule and ability to occasionally work nights and weekends is required.
• Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.   

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required; education, counseling, psychology, social work, career development, or a related field preferred.
• Prior experience working with youth aged 13 to 24 is preferred.
• Knowledge of career development practices and resources is required; experience with local employment services or workforce development programs is a plus.
• Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups, including students, parents/guardians, coworkers, partner organizations, and community members.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a particular strength in interpersonal communication.
• Strong computer literacy and ability to work with and interpret data; proficiency with Microsoft Office required. Experience with Salesforce or another customer relationship management (CRM) platform is a plus.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Previous experience supervising staff is preferred.
• Successful applicants must be able to pass the PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.
• General knowledge of ice hockey can be helpful, but it is not required.
